may be the coolest looking game I've seen in a long time. Of course, that might be the brain damage caused by watching the video talking.

Well I haven't updated in like 2 months. This does not come as a surprise to me. So, heres a brief rundown of the last 2 months.
Saw Video Games Live
in London, which was pretty damn cool. They played a lot of great songs and it was very well done.
Got addicted to Eye of Judgment, and now run my own website
for it. It's a great game!
Started reading The Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan (who died like 2 days before I started the first book, apparently). The series has 12 books (the last one isn't out till 2009 for some reason), and I'm already up to the 7th. It may be the best series I've ever read.
Picked up Assassins Creed, Mass Effect and Super Mario Galaxy. Assassins Creed and Mass Effect were both awesome, and I finished both of them.
Assassins Creed probably has the smoothest animations I've ever seen in a game. Everything flows perfectly into the next animation regardless of what you are doing, and it all looks great. The game is a lot of fun, and I can highly recommend it.
Mass Effect is just awesome all over. The combat is sort of an RPG-enhanced version of Gears of War, theres a huge amount of freedom in the game, and the entire game world seems to adapt seemlessly to the choices you make along the way.
Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with Super Mario Galaxy. Ignoring the fact that the camera is horrible, which in turn causes the controls to suck, the entire thing feels like it is on rails. I didn't play it for very long before I just plain got bored of it, which is a shame because I was really looking forward to it.
Aside from that, I've just been working. So yeah. Thats the whole interesting story.
This will most likely be the last update I do this year, so, Merry Christmas everyone.

Well, I had this whole post typed up about Heavenly Sword, which I just finished, and then my browser crashed. So heres the extremely abridged version.
The combat is fun for the most part, and its very shiny. There is some nice variation between standard combat and some shooting stages, and the shooting areas make cool use of the PS3 controllers tilt sensors.
The voice acting is fucking abysmal throughout the entire game, with the exception of the main character. Everyone else sounds either retarded, inbred or just plain rediculous. The main bad guy in the game is voiced by Andy Serkis, for the love of god.
The game is pretty short (about 6 hours, I think, though I wasn't really keeping track), but I'd say thats just about the right length for the game - anything longer and it would have started to drag a little.
So, if theres anyone out there who has a PS3 and doesn't have Heavenly Sword yet (the number of which I could probably count on my fingers), you could find worse ways to spend your money.
In other news, all of the TV Shows I mentioned in the previous couple of posts continue to be awesome. Bionic Woman didn't wow me to start with, but I enjoyed the last episode I saw so I'm gonna keep watching it for now.

So, a whole bunch of games have been released recently, so here are some brief thoughts on the ones I've played. I'll try not to drop any spoilers, but I make no promises
Its a great game, approximately 52 billion times better than the first 2 (which I didn't like so much). There are only a couple of frustrating areas in the game, and there were lots of very cool moments. That said, it was hardly the best FPS I've ever played, and is definately way WAY too overhyped for its own good. None of that really matters though, as Halo fanboyism far outweighs common sense in most cases.
Half Life 2 Episode 2
Fantastic all the way through. It almost justifies the rediculous amount of time they spent working on it. Almost
. I enjoyed Episode 2 much more than both HL2 and Ep 1 combined, and hope they can pull it off again for Episode 3. I just hope it doesnt take them another 18 months or whatever to do it.
This is just a lot of fun. Its hilarious, has great puzzles, and a nice ending, although it is pretty (read: very) short. There's a challenge mode in addition to the main game, so theres probbaly plenty left to do in it, but I've not taken a look yet.
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
A remake of the Play Station original, the game feels pretty dated. That doesn't mean its bad, but there are some quality of life issues that they definately could have taken the time to fix while they were remaking it for the PSP. It also starts off pretty slowly, but once you get into things, its pretty good. Also, the new cutscenes are great. If you picture the character animation from hotel dusk, in 3d and full colour, you'd be pretty close. If nothing else, It's made me look forwards to Final Fantasy Tactics A2 all the more.
I picked up a PS3 yesterday, for a couple of reasons:
1 - GAME had an awesome deal which basically nets you 2 free games, which combined with the price drop that occured this week makes for some good times.
2 - Eye of Judgment is out at the end of the month. If you aren't familiar with it, feel free to google for some videos, as any description I give you will either make no sense, or simply not do it justice. Anyway, I played it at PAX, and I was sold right there. My only fear is that I will spend all my money on booster packs!
Anyway, with my PS3 I got Resistance: Fall of Man, which I played shortly after the PS3's release, and it was quite cool, and Heavenly Sword. Heavenly Sword is a nice game which is fun to play, if a little mindless in its button bashing (infact, at one point during the 'tutorial' phase, it specifcally tells you to mash buttons). That said, it can't hold a candle to Devil May Cry or God of War.
That's all for now!

So I just watched Chuck, and it is also cool. So all in all, a good season for TV! It has a really good cast, and seems to have the right balance of humour and coolness. It has a similar vibe to the short-lived Jake 2.0, so if you liked that, you'll probably like Chuck too.
Also, turns out I was wrong about Eureka, only one new episode last night, so the finale isn't until next week.
